I once saw an Owl on a branch with a small rabbit. There was a rather VOCAL squirrel on the branch which could not get to the rest of the tree for the Owl in its way. It was clutching some thing it refused to give up to get around the Owl. Dont know what it was clutching as I was too far away but i presume it was a nut perhaps.
It was like they were negotiating to use the branch. The back grounds and subtle shades were done in washes, which are Not apearant here on Deviant with this poor photo copy. another best black and white winner at NrwestCon many years past. The Original how ever I recently found up on the auction block, and is displayed online in all its detailed glory. It can be found at... [link] They have it Incorrectly listed as a Pencil drawing. In fact I did not pencil it at ALL before i drew it with diluted technical pen inks and ink washes. Its SO subtle and detailed it can be mistaken for pencils it seems. LOL.
phenomenal rendering. great detail. awesome line work.

I don't comment on artwork very often--unless I'm talking to someone on msn or face to face and they bring it up--but this has to be my favorite piece out of your gallery :] great rendering, fantastic detailing--your lines are so immaculate.
The only beef I have is that it lacks a sense of depth to me :9 it's difficult to tell if the gnome is in the background, or on the same plane as the owl. Line width would help that a lot--or perhaps in this particular case, having the foreground lighter and the background darker can help differentiate.

Ill give you that my dear. and I never turn my nose away from reasonable "constructive" critisism. The peice is Quite old mind you, and I was just a kid when i did it. As for the depth, there were a Lot of washes, did you see the original at action through the link provided? It might seem clearer to you than the crappy photo copy i had placed up on deviant.
